ACADEMY

Onesport has a partnership with ex Premier League goalkeeper John Sheffield and his academy, JSGA.  John played professional football for 18 years and had no fewer than 12 clubs including Norwich City, Swindon Town, Peterborough Utd, Cambridge Utd plus a four year spell with Plymouth Argyle totaling nearly 380 football league appearances in all four divisions inc the Premiership. After finishing his playing career he had two years as Goalkeeper coach at Yeovil Town. 

John set up JSGA in 2004 and has seen it go from strength to strength. They hold weekly sessions in Plymouth, Callington and Camborne. Along with two day intensive summer camps to get the keeper ready for the new season and also provide individual tuition where they can work on particular areas of the game.  John also offers club sessions where he will coach all the keepers at a particular club.

The younger keepers from 8 years learn the art of keeping and then look to move up to our advanced academies at Callington which is for the keepers who in Johns opinion are showing qualities that can take them to a higher level.

One of the benefits of holding specialized goalkeeper coaching classes is that it gives the team managers the chance to have their keeper coached and trained by a professional goalkeeper coach once or twice a week when normally they would be struggling to fit five or ten minutes of keeper work into their sessions.

John is very proud that over the last three years four of the keepers from JSGA have been offered goalkeeper places at Filton Sports College in Bristol, one of the best sports colleges in the country, some on a full scholarship.
